The Gore Family Foundation’s work in this Programme brought us face to face with the painful failures of our education system. The estimated number of at-risk youth in Jamaica is 127,000. The total number of people who work in the tourism industry is approximately 160,000. We had to get involved! Gore Developments Ltd. & The Gore Family Foundation converted model units into classrooms for training purposes; employed coordinators; and employed those involved in the Programme on sites where they were able to gain invaluable work experience. One of the highlights of the Programme was a bus tour to BREDS Treasure Beach Sports Park that was organized by the Gore Family Foundation for interns over the Christmas break where they had the opportunity to participate in team-building exercises as part of the General Colin Powell Challenge Course.
