The Recap and The Road Map

The Foundation has been set up specifically to help Jamaica’s basic and primary schools, to improve in every way, every aspect of a child’s well-being and capacity to learn.

We make inroads into the schools by identifying a basic or primary school, setting up meetings with the Principals to explain our aims and methods with the emphasis on how our input, through sports and nutrition, can really assist the students with their education.

We have found the Play & Stay method of tennis, as outlined herein; and yes, the very same programme that Michelle Obama has implemented in the USA’s school system.  Mrs. Obama has succeeded in one (1) hour a day, we are trying our best for one (1) hour a week!  We consider the Play & Stay method to be an essential tool in our goal of improving a child’s basic education; to prepare the way for that child to move up and through the system without getting left behind.  We want to see each child promoted to the next grade with ease and confidence.  So many Jamaican youngsters are falling behind; moving up to the next grade whilst not being fully cognisant with what was being taught to them in the previous year.

We use KBC Learning; working with Principals and parents alike for a well-rounded programme to benefit and encompass all the children within.  After each reporting period and working with the teachers, the students who need extra help in specific areas are identified then remedial work can be undertaken.  KBC’s intervention has produced many positive changes in the actual schools separate and apart from academics as the organisation actively participates in the areas of health, nutrition, teacher/parent cooperation and teacher/student interaction to the great benefit of all. Their programmes are based on detailed research with information technology used to perform assessments.

As you will see, another key tool is nutrition – good, wholesome and proper nutrition for all basic school children.  We go into the schools, we meet with the cooks and kitchen staff, we invite them to our nutrition seminars hosted by expert chefs and nutritionists and each participant is “certified” thereafter.  Once we are certain the children’s nutritional content is being satisfied and that they are being fed properly and, that staff are sticking to the menus provided, that kitchen is rewarded with not only the proper utensils but where possible, additional upgrading that the kitchen may need in the way of cupboards, etc.

Everybody can help Jamaican children learn, grow and develop into healthy, productive and properly educated young adults who in turn, help to develop Jamaica, our island home.  Will you help us help them?

Make the difference in even one child’s life, where it matters most, at the very beginning -as they start their school lifein our basic schools.  You can choose any one of our listed schools in Kingston or Hanover.

We are asking you to share our message with your family members, colleagues and friends; with anybody you think would care about Jamaica’s children and be interested in furthering their education and welfare.  The more Jamaicans at home and abroad who know what we are doing; what we are trying to achieve, the more basic and primary schools we can add to our list.

Use our experience, as detailed herein, to realise a positive change in our basic schools; we are not asking for money “to be thrown” at schools; our hope is that we are showing the way that our approach can and has worked in those schools under our umbrella.  If you as an individual, within a group or as an organisation need any assistance, contact us.  We are here, ready to help and will be glad to hear from you.

Thank you!
