Construction Project Management Course @ Jamaica College…Just Keeps Rolling On!

From a germ of an idea, to a draft document aimed at conveying everything there is to know about Construction Project Management, to a confirmed course, schedule of classes, kitting out a JC classroom with the proper computer equipment and state-of-the-art technology, to 14 JC students eagerly soaking up knowledge…for the third year running!

The inimitable Dr. Claire Sutherland, our brilliant Course Coordinator once again ‘kicks off’ JC CPM’s third year and imparts her considerable expertise on everything relevant to the role of a ‘Project Manager’, ‘live and direct’ to this year’s crop of young men on a mission. The 2018-19 classes were over-subscribed, but JC managed to find room; so it was laptops and big screen to the ready and here.we.go.again!

The course runs from September to July and includes a series of sessions – one set following the other – each hosted by a seasoned professional on: architecture, commissioned land surveying, civil engineering and quantity surveying. As the school year ends, the CPM is followed by a two-week practical ‘stint’ (actually getting their hands dirty!) on a Gore Development Limited’s construction site, after which the participants receive their certificates.

Every Tuesday afternoon during school time, you’ll find the JC boys at the ready in the appointed room, with all the technology they need on hand, to learn all there is to know on this topic – project management.
